This Tama Starclassic Performer B/B is a 4-piece drum shell pack that provides sweet and deep hybrid tone, exhibiting the focused attack of birch paired with the enhanced lows of bubinga. This Tama shell pack includes a 22" x 18" bass drum, 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" toms, and a 14" x 12" floor tom. The tom shells are 6mm thick with 4 outer plies of birch, and 3 inner plies of bubinga. The Tama Superstar series Custom SK Hyper-Drive 6-PIece Shell Pack is all about the sound. Tama Superstar drum shells are birch with basswood inner plies. This combination provides strong projection, aggressive, open sound, and great consistency. Precisely cut bearing edges and zinc die-cast hoops bring out the great response and powerful resonance. For perfect tone the kick drums are made with 7 - 7mm wood plies, while the toms and snare use 6 - 6mm plies.

All Superstar "Power Craft" drum heads ensure a great sound practically right out of the box. Batter-side heads are made of Dupont Mylar film for richer tone and greater durability. Ring mufflers on bass drum heads remove the need for extra internal muffling.

Air Seal System
All Yamaha wood drums have one thing in common-Yamaha's craftsmen create every drum shell using their exclusive staggered diagonal seam, Air Seal System just as they have since 1967. Each two or three-ply master ply is cut to length to very precise tolerance with a diagonal cut on each end. The diagonal seam in the drum shell will not separate, eliminating the need to fill gaps in the bearing edge with filler putty. These plies have glue applied and are then put into the mold by hand, one master play at a time. The craftsman then inserts an air bag into the mold and inflates it, clamping the shell with even pressure 360 degrees around. This process creates a drumshell that is strong, starts round, and stays round for many years.
