Bronen's Music Store was founded in 1915 by Benjamin Bronen a Polish immigrant and violinist. With his wife Rose and 3 sons, Murray, and twins Jack and Sidney the business thrived. Although, surviving such hardships as the Great Depression, a major fire, W.W.II and the blackout of 1977 with looting that cleaned out all but a piano and some sheet music, Bronen's persevered.
The store was honored in 2000 by Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer saluting businesses that have been in the Bronx for 75 years or more. At the age of 8 years old the current owner, Andrew Bronen began working beside his father, Sidney and continued to do so until his passing in April, 2003.
Andy recently had a customer who bought his first violin from his grandfather 60 years ago. After water damage to his home ruined that violin, he came back to Bronen's to by his second violin from him. Many of Bronen's Music customers are second, third and fourth generation purchasers. We thank them for there continued support.
Bronen's Music, prides itself on its dedication to their customers and its place in serving the community. Because of that strong dedication we continue to expand our business to meet our customers.
